Doris Day was one of the celebrities in Hollywood in the 1960s and 1970s. She was known as an actress, singer, and animal welfare activist. She retired from acting after The Doris Day Show, but she still appeared on several television specials and talk shows now and then. Dorris planned her retirement well as she made suitable investments that will support her throughout her life. After her retirement, she resided in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where she co-owned a Cypress Inn hotel with her son, Terry Melcher.

Doris enjoyed a peaceful life with her pets and adopted stray animals. Her love and affection for animals have led her to advocate for animal welfare, which she influenced. Until her last breath, Day worked for the Doris Day Animal Foundation, founded in 1978. She also created the annual Spay Day USA. From the looks of it, she used her investment money on purpose to help our furry friends.
