He was born in Pretoria, South Africa. At the early age of 10, Elon Musk showed an interest in computers and learned how to program. At 12, he sold Blastar, a game software that he created himself. He went to Stanford University to get his postgraduate degree in energy physics but dropped out and launched the Zip2 corporation — the company that he and his brother co-founded.
