Laverne Cox is an American actress who rose to fame after she starred as Sophia Burset on the Netflix Original series Orange Is the New Black. The actress is also credited for her advocacy with regards to the LGBTQ+ community. Cox is the first transgender to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and Emmy Award since Angela Morley in 1990. The actress is also the first transgender to be on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine.

The actress who has spread self-love and acceptance has made waves in the industry and has greatly contributed to the LGBTQ+ community and to people of color.
