A journey always starts with a leap of faith, the first attempt. Of course, such was also the case for retirement homes. While they may be pretty standard now, the same couldn’t be said back in the 1960s, but that didn’t stop one person from trying.

Del Webb and his company spent a significant portion of investment money creating Sun City, Arizona’s first five homes. More importantly, this was the start of an at-the-time unheard-of project: a community for retired adults. Despite initial speculations saying this venture would fail, the city garnered hundreds of thousands of visitors in just its first week! Since then, Sun City has made quite a name for itself. Along with providing residents just about anything they need, from shopping to dining to healthcare assistance, the city also has plenty of fun activities – which is made all the better thanks to its friendly community.
