Active, vibrant, and filled to the brim with art. Those are just some of the things that perfectly describe the retirement destination of Traverse, Michigan. Oh, and did we mention that it’s also the “cherry capital” of the United States? Well, yes, it is. In fact, this exciting town holds the most extravagant festivals to kick off its cherry season.

If you ever decide to spend your retirement investment in this place, you’ll get to enjoy The National Cherry Festival every July. If you’re a film junkie, then you might also enjoy The Traverse City Film Festival held every year. The housing here is pretty reasonable as much as charming.  You’ll find plenty of properties near lakes and shorelines, considering that the town is by the water. If you’d like a more secluded option, rustic cabins are located inside the town’s wooded areas. Beware, though! The winters can be challenging.
