Compared to other suburbs on this list, Overland Park is a relatively new city founded in the early 1900s. However, that’s not to say that the town does not have a historical flare. In fact, before its development, it was a roadway used by the United States army.

Today, it’s a thriving city of over 185,000, boasting several art galleries and recreational parks. Thanks to its high livability rating and flourishing economy, it has garnered multiple recognition from prestigious media entities like CNN, WalletHub, Forbes, and the National Civic League. Homes here are also appropriately priced, averaging at around $319,000. Retirees who’ll choose to spend their years here will also enjoy cultural activities, festivals, two golf courses, and senior classes courtesy of the University of Kansas. The climate isn’t too bad, either, peaking around 23-25 degrees for most of the year.
