Dogs have been one of the closest and best companions of people for ages. Out of all the domesticated animals, dogs serve a wide range of roles, including protector, lifesaver, helper, friend, and companion. Dogs and people started living together over 15,000 years ago, as dogs followed the migration of people throughout East Asia. As both dogs and people are social beings, the connection came as natural and benefited mentally and physically from the strong bonds, developing symbiotic relationship.

In 1870, the phrase “man’s best friend” originated in the American Supreme Court when George Graham Vest, a talented lawyer, defended a man who deeply loved his coon hound named Old Grum. Since then, it’s been carried on for generations. Just like in this photo, where a dog clearly is clearly a part of these people’s lives and shares a photo with them, and it got the prime spot.
